First, what tired skin actually is
Tired skin is usually one of three things, and often all of them at once: dehydration in the deeper layers, a build-up of dead cells dulling the surface, and slowing skin renewal. None of those are fixed by more concealer, and only the surface layer is touched by most creams.
The good news is that every one of them can be treated. The right choice depends on which is doing the most damage to your glow, your budget and how much downtime you can accept. Here is the menu, ranked from simplest to most involved.
Start here: the free fixes
An honest guide starts with the things that cost nothing. Sleep, water and daily SPF do more for tired skin over a year than any single treatment. If your skincare is a face wipe and hope, fixing that comes before booking anything. The clinic carries the Medik8 professional range, and Hayley builds personalised skincare plans as part of a consultation, so you can get the foundations right without guesswork.
Give the basics a fair run before judging them. Skin renews on a cycle of roughly a month, so two weeks of good habits will not show you what three months will. If your skin still looks flat after a genuine effort, that is when the treatments below earn their place.
1. Dermaplaning luxury facial: the instant lift
If your skin looks dull because of the surface layer, dermaplaning is the quickest win on this list. It gently removes dead skin cells and vellus hair in one session, leaving skin noticeably brighter and smoother the same day. Makeup sits better too.
From £55, taking 45 to 60 minutes. A favourite before weddings and big occasions.
2. Chemical peels: brightness with staying power
A step deeper than dermaplaning. Peels lift dull surface layers and encourage fresher skin to come through, improving radiance and texture over the days that follow. From £75, and Hayley matches the peel strength to your skin at consultation.
3. Microneedling: for texture and renewal
Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels in the skin that trigger its own repair response, supporting collagen and smoothing texture over the following weeks. Skin may be red for 24 to 48 hours afterwards. The Hydrolift Microneedling Facial starts from £85.
One client described her results two weeks after her first session: pores less visible, skin firmer, makeup sitting better. That review is on the home page, in her own words.
4. Skin boosters: the deep hydration heavyweight
When tiredness comes from dehydration in the deeper layers, creams cannot reach it and facials only help the surface. Skin boosters such as Profhilo and Jalupro deliver hydration directly into the skin, improving firmness and glow from the inside over the weeks after treatment.
Profhilo is recommended as a course of 2 sessions from £300, and Jalupro as a course of 3 from £480. This is the treatment Hayley most often recommends when a client says their skin never looks awake anymore. The full detail is on the skin boosters page.
5. Polynucleotides: for tired under-eyes
The under-eye area shows tiredness first and responds to very little that comes in a jar. Polynucleotide treatments support tissue regeneration in this delicate area, from £150 per session. Because under-eye concerns have several causes, suitability is always confirmed at consultation first.
6. PRP vampire facial: your own biology, put to work
PRP uses platelet-rich plasma from your own blood to encourage skin regeneration. It is the most involved treatment on this list, from £200, and suits clients who want a regenerative approach using their own cells.
What order to book things
If your budget allows more than one treatment over a few months, sequence matters. Surface first, depth second. A dermaplaning session or peel clears the dull layer so you can see what your skin underneath actually looks like. Then, if dehydration is still obvious, a skin booster course addresses the deeper problem.
Facials also work well as maintenance between booster courses. Plenty of clients settle into a rhythm: a Profhilo course once or twice a year, with a facial or peel in the quieter months. Hayley maps this out properly at consultation, matched to your skin and your budget rather than a template.
When you will see results
Set expectations by treatment type, because they differ widely. Dermaplaning is same-day. Peels show their best within a week as fresh skin comes through. Microneedling builds over several weeks as the skin's repair response does its work, and skin boosters develop across the weeks after each session of the course. Results vary from person to person, and Hayley will give you an honest timeline for your skin rather than a brochure answer.
What tired skin usually does not need
Dermal filler. Volume loss and tiredness are different problems, and filling a face that needed hydration is how the overdone look happens. A practitioner who reaches for filler as the answer to everything is showing you their business model, not a treatment plan. Hayley will tell you plainly which problem your skin actually has.
How to choose
- Big event soon, tight budget: dermaplaning facial.
- Dull and rough for months: a peel, or a course of microneedling.
- Skin never looks hydrated no matter what: skin boosters.
- Tired eyes specifically: polynucleotides, after assessment.
- Not sure: a consultation costs you a conversation, and you leave with a plan either way.
Every treatment above is delivered personally by Hayley at the Fakenham clinic. Prices for everything are on the price list page, and the guide to choosing an aesthetic nurse in Norfolk explains what to look for in any practitioner you consider.
